Keepsake Pens  -  Write with your memories
Have you just finished remodeling or building your home?  Do you have a piece of barn siding or fence rail that is
from your Gramps' farm?  How about a branch from that maple tree you planted when you first got married?
Anything that holds special memories for you can be transformed into something that you hold so those memories
can always be "write" at hand.

A keepsake pen can be crafted for you using materials you provide.  Bring in your material and we can evaluate it
for use as a pen.  On this page are some examples of pens made from materials found in and around the home.
Check back here frequently - as the muse strikes, I'll try different things and post them here.

There is usually a two to three week turnaround from the time you place your order until you receive your
keepsake.
This black chrome comfort grip pen and pencil set
was made from Kauri wood.  Cynthy, a Harpist and a
Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner in
Richmond, VA, had a beautiful Maple and Kauri
harp crafted by Heartland Harps near Asheville, NC.
(see pic to the right).  The pen and pencil were
made for Cynthy  from wood left over from the harp
construction.  Links to the Heartland website and
Cynthy's website are below.

Peach Cigar
November 2005

This Black Titanium Cigar pen was made from a
peach tree limb blown down by Hurricane / Tropical
Storm Isabel in 2003.  Actually, the whole tree was
lost, but, on the bright side, the deer can't eat my
peaches anymore and Karen has a great looking
pen!
Mimosa Baron
This Gold Baron was made from a walking stick
picked up in the mountains of Virginia.  The species
(I think) is Mimosa, scientific name: Albizia
julibrissin.  Karen calls them paint brush trees.  (see
below)
Grapevine Slimline
This is a slimline style pen made from a grape vine
that we were clearing from our property.  It was a
"gee, I wonder what would happen if" moment and,
as you can see, the grain on the wood is quite
interesting.  I've had this pen in my pocket and have
been using it for a number of months now and it
seems to be very durable.  I was doing some
experimenting with the finish also on this pen.  It
didn't do as well as the wood!  The before picture is
to the right.

Black Titanium Cigar pen and pencil
A black titanium cigar style pen and pencil set, made
from the a length of flooring from "Grandmas' house"
The box was also made of the flooring.  The pen and
pencil were stained to match (as close as possible) the
color of the floor.  The top and bottom of the box was
left the original finish - dings and all!  You can see a
nail hole from the flooring at the rear center of the box
bottom.
July/August 2007

Yeah, I know, this isn't a pen, but it is a maple cradle
made for our first Grandchild.  The maple came from a
tree I cut down at our Nelson County home.  The cradle
comes apart and stores in a case for storage.  I guess it
works ok - Juliana seems to like it!   Before picture is
below.
October 2007

A platinum cigar pen made from the handle of a
shovel that "dug up" (stop groaning!) some fond
memories for one of our customers.  Looks to be a
white oak handle.
